Mattias and Per Johan began collaborating in 2002, mostly for fun, but have recently decided to make a greater effort to promote music from their district. Their repertoire ranges from lively “pols” dances from Selbu through dynamic “springleiker” from Lima to mysterious “pols” dances from Finnskogen. They also play other types of old and new dance music from the same districts. This type of folk music is not especially well known among the general audience, particularly the music from Selbu, which they introduce in the recording “Frå Tusenølløv te Olav Haugen”. Music from Finnskogen and Västerdalarna is popular in Sweden, but almost unknown in Norway. Tværg aims at making the music of Selbu, Västerdalarna and Finnskogen available to a wider audience, both in Norway and abroad.
